BlizzCon 2026 is almost here, and excitement surrounding Diablo is reaching a new level. With the franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary, Blizzard has already released promotional material that has sparked discussions across the community. While players prepare their characters and D4 items for the next season, attention has shifted toward what Blizzard could reveal at BlizzCon, including a possible return of Baal, a new expansion, and perhaps even a new class.

One of the biggest rumors currently circulating is the possibility of a Diablo expansion connected to the Lord of Destruction. Online images have reportedly shown Baal alongside Diablo, with some speculation suggesting a potential title such as “Reign of Destruction.” Baal is one of the most recognizable villains in the Diablo universe, especially for players who remember Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Bringing him into Diablo 4 would create an obvious connection between the classic games and the current generation of Sanctuary.

However, the rumor landscape is filled with questionable material. One particularly eye-catching leak features what appears to be a Demon Hunter or Witch Hunter-style character carrying a gun and a hand crossbow. The concept has generated plenty of discussion, but its authenticity is uncertain. Some members of the community have already suggested that the image could be AI-generated. Until Blizzard officially confirms the character, players should treat the supposed gun-based class as speculation rather than established information.

There are some older data-mining discoveries that have added fuel to the discussion. References connected to hand crossbows have reportedly appeared in game data, while other discoveries have mentioned possible movement features and changes related to the mysterious Cow Level. These findings are interesting, but data-mined information does not necessarily represent confirmed future content. Developers often experiment with ideas that can later be abandoned, changed, or kept out of the final game.

The Baal theory has received more attention because of Blizzard's own promotional activity. Official images released ahead of BlizzCon appear to feature imagery associated with major Diablo villains, with Baal receiving particular attention from fans. Blizzard's social media posts have also encouraged players to revisit the franchise's history. These clues do not confirm a Lord of Destruction expansion, but they have understandably increased speculation about what the company may reveal.

The 30th anniversary celebration adds another layer of anticipation. Diablo has built a long history across multiple games, and BlizzCon 2026 is expected to feature more than just Diablo 4. A major developer presentation will include the broader Diablo team, meaning announcements could potentially cover Diablo II, Diablo III, Diablo Immortal, or other projects. Fans have even discussed possibilities such as a remastered Diablo III or a Diablo movie or television series, although these ideas remain purely speculative.

The event schedule also gives Diablo players plenty to watch. The main stage begins at 10 a.m. PT, with Diablo-related content expected around the opening ceremony and subsequent presentations. The following day includes a dedicated Diablo 4 panel focusing on upcoming content and features. Because the next season is scheduled to begin shortly after BlizzCon, players are also expecting detailed information about seasonal changes and potentially new patch notes.

Another presentation that should attract attention is “Art of Darkness,” which focuses on the creation of Diablo 4 cinematics. Blizzard has consistently placed significant emphasis on cinematic storytelling throughout the franchise. A behind-the-scenes presentation could give players a closer look at how these scenes are designed, animated, and integrated into the game's dark atmosphere. Although it would not necessarily confirm a film or television adaptation, the presentation could still be an interesting part of the anniversary celebration.

BlizzCon will also provide opportunities for fans to participate through Twitch Drops and community streams. Players who connect their relevant accounts and watch eligible Diablo streams can potentially receive special in-game rewards. Partner creators will be streaming different Diablo titles, giving viewers a chance to follow announcements while also earning cosmetic or gameplay-related rewards.

For Diablo 4 players, the most important question remains what Blizzard plans to reveal about the game's future. A Baal-centered storyline would connect directly with the franchise's classic history, while a new class could significantly expand the available playstyles. At the same time, players should remember that leaked images and data-mining discoveries can change before official release. Until Blizzard presents the actual details, the safest approach is to separate confirmed announcements from community theories.

BlizzCon 2026 therefore has the potential to be an important moment for Diablo fans, especially with the franchise reaching its 30-year milestone. Whether the event brings Baal, a new class, seasonal updates, or something completely unexpected, the announcements should provide a clearer picture of where Sanctuary is heading next. Players preparing for the new content can also make sure their characters are ready, with enough resources and buy diablo 4 gear available for gearing, upgrades, and experimentation when the next chapter begins.
